Examples of great social media holiday posts

The Barn: New Year

For many, public holidays such as New Year are non-working days. While some spend this time in the comfort of their homes, others seek a way to spend their time outside. They’re searching for the rare cafes, restaurants, and other venues that are open these days. If you run one of these places, make sure that you let your potential customers know by posting a warm invitation across your social media profiles – just as The Barn, a Berlin-based cafe, did.

Le Petit Trou: Valentine’s Day

Le Petit Trou, a lingerie brand, celebrated Valentine`s Day with a special campaign. They engaged the passers-by near their boutique in a heart-warming activity: the team drew a heart on the sidewalk and wrote “Kiss Here” inside. People would stop to kiss their partners, friends, and pupils. Le Petit Trou made sure to grab a video and share the footage on their social media channels.

This mix of an outdoor campaign and digital content evoked positive emotions and helped the brand generate a lot of buzz.

Chewy: Get to know your customers day

Get to know your customers day is a holiday many brands can leverage in their social media campaigns. The trick is to ensure your campaign is outstanding, engaging, and memorable.

Chewy, a pet store, took a creative approach to celebrate this holiday. They asked their community to share two truths and one lie about their pet (Chewy’s customer). And you don’t have to ask a pet owner twice to talk about their pet. People actively engaged in the thread, and Chewy approached every customer individually and tried to guess which one was the lie.

Lucy & Yak: Black Friday

Certain holidays are so popular that it’s super hard to get through the abundance of content on social media and make your post stand out. Unless you choose an alternative way to celebrate – just as Lucy & Yak did on Black Friday.

Instead of offering discounts, Lucy & Yak announced that half of their profits from the Black weekend would be donated to a charity. As the consumptionist nature of Black Friday gets more and more criticism, this apparel brand clearly espoused its support for a more sustainable lifestyle. As a result, they still may get more sales than on usual weekends – but this is for the good, and not for the vain. This approach might be exactly what their customers are looking for during the days oversaturated with consumption.

Lucy & Yak opposed the tradition of Black Friday with their own concept: donating half of their profits to a good cause.

Ferrari: World Emoji Day

The Italian car manufacturer, Ferrari, invited a famous racing driver to celebrate the #WorldEmojiDay with them. They grabbed a TikTok video using an interactive filter that randomly selects emojis to imitate.

As Ferrari engaged a celebrity, the content got a lot of views. On the other hand, the filter’s interactive nature engaged their audience to actively celebrate World Emoji Day with them and grab their own videos using the same filter.
