Struggling with what to write and how to write it in your social media posts to engage your audience? Beat the writer’s block (and save some time while you’re at it) with the latest addition NapoleonCat: AI Assistant for Copy Generation in NapoleonCat’s Publisher. (tada!)
Why AI is the future of social media marketing
Let’s clear that one first. AI technology is essentially the future. Period.
So clearly, it’s also a dominating trend in social media marketing. We’ve actually been using AI for a while now, even without realizing it sometimes. Because AI is not just there to generate headlines and cations. It’s used for:
- Ad targeting and optimization
- Image creation
- Content curation
- Customer service and chatbots
- Data analytics, including competitive analysis
- Social listening and sentiment analysis
- Content scheduling
- Content optimization
- Predictive analytics
- And much more
(This list was actually created with the help of AI, a.k.a. ChatGPT.)
It is an inherent part of social media marketing already. And with the recent content generation revolution (because there is no other way to call it), it’s going to stay with us. And we might just as well be here for it.
And about the content generation revolution:
Revolutionizing caption creation
The fact that you don’t have to write the social media captions yourself anymore has to be called a revolution, right? Because what else are you going to call it?
Generating captions with AI can help you:
- Save tons of time (that’s the obvious one)
- Write great copy even when you don’t have a great copywriter on hand
- Generate captions that are designed to perform better (AI’s constantly learning to improve)
- Streamline content creation and publishing workflows within your team to make the entire process more efficient.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like AI is entirely replacing people here. Think of it as your assistant (as with any marketing automation tool):
- You feed it ideas (a.k.a. prompts.)
- It turns it into copy.
- You revise it, edit it if need be, and decide whether that’s what you need to publish.
So, you have control over the whole process, and you’re still the driving force behind it. It just gets faster and easier.
Anyway, let’s take a look at how the new Caption Generator works in NapoleonCat.
How to automate your social media captions
With the latest update to NapoleonCat, you can now easily generate captions for your social media posts, based on your needs and goals.
Here’s how it works:
Generate content from scratch
This is for when you want AI to generate the entire copy for you based on your requirements.
- Go to the calendar in the Publisher and start creating a social media post on a selected day.
- Click on the AI stars icon – a dropdown menu will open up with two options. Select “Generate copy”.
- A popup will appear with a few things in it:
- a list of prompt templates
- a coin usage counter
- a field to enter a prompt
- tone settings
- format
- emoji and hashtag switches
- and a “Generate” button.w
- If you’re already creating a post for a specific social media platform, you’ll see platform-specific prompts. For Facebook and Instagram, they’re specific to your post type: a feed post or Reel.
- Not sure how to write a good prompt? (We’ll talk about it in a sec.) No worries, you’ll see some helpful tips.
- Now, either write the prompt yourself or choose from the ready-made prompt templates.
- Select your tone of voice, format, emojis, and hashtags.
- You can generate new versions of the copy – each new version takes away a coin from your AI coin pools.
- When you’re happy with the result, click “Add to post”, and you’re done. 🙂
Edit existing content
This is when you write your own copy and want AI to rephrase and improve it based on your requirements.
- Go to the calendar in the Publisher and start creating a social media post on a selected day.
- Click on the AI stars icon – a dropdown menu will open up with two options. Select “Enhance copy”.
- A popup window will appear, just as above, but with no prompt templates this time.
- If you’ve already created a copy for the post, it’ll appear here. Or you can type/paste it in now if you haven’t done it yet.
- You can generate multiple versions of the copy, each time deducting a coin from your AI coin pool.
- When you’re happy with the version, add it to your post, and you’re done.
Schedule unlimited Instagram Stories, Reels, and Carousels
Seamlessly schedule Instagram content to multiple accounts at once. Collaborate and work in a team – with an all-in-one social media tool.
Mastering the art of prompt building
AI might be making content creation much easier, but to do so, it does need the right input from you, the human. And that input is called a prompt.
The better you’re at creating the right prompts, the better results AI is going to get you. (Because, yes, AI still needs a human behind it.)
And creating the right prompts can be an art in itself. Don’t worry; there are some straightforward rules you can follow to increase your chances of AI getting you just the copy you asked for.
Here’s how to learn effective prompting for generative AI:
- Define a clear goal: Before creating a prompt, have a clear idea of what you want to achieve with the AI’s response. Are you looking for information, generating creative content, or something else? Define your objectives to guide your prompt.
- Speaking of goals, don’t forget to add a goal for your caption. Are you asking your audience questions and expecting engagement in the comments? Or do you want them to click through to your website or buy your product?
- And don’t forget to add a CTA or question to elicit a response from your audience.
- Provide context so that the AI understands all important aspects of the topic. Clearly mention any relevant details, keywords, or background information.
- Clearly define the tone, so the AI can match your brand’s tone of voice.
- Use explicit instructions to get more accurate responses. You can also provide examples to make sure AI understands the context.
- Don’t forget about the platform the caption is for – that’ll guide AI to format the text the right way and fit the optimal number of characters.
- Consider what your audience wants. This will guide things like your tone and the content itself to match their needs and preferences.
- Experiment and iterate. Just like everything, creating AI prompts takes practice. You need to start having conversations with the AI to gauge your prompts for the expected result. Don’t be afraid to refine its responses – AI is constantly learning, so it will be learning from your refinements, too.
- Test the AI-generated copy with your audience and see how they respond. Use your learning to refine your prompts next time.
- Learn from experts and fellow marketers. There are people who’ve already gone through what you’re going through and might have some advice that will save you precious time. Also, courses in prompt creation might be a good starting point if you’re keen on saving time and mastering the skill.
And don’t worry – prompting has become an actual job, so it might take you a few tries to get to the desired result. But when you do, it’s smooth sailing from there.
Now, go and create your first AI caption
If you’re familiar with tools like ChatGPT, it’ll probably seem obvious. And if you’re not, no worries. Adjust the settings, play around with the prompt templates, and keep learning from AI just as it’s learning from you. You’ll get the results you’re looking for in no time.
So try out the new AI Assistant for copy generation in NapoleonCat’s Publisher. (Maybe set aside some time for that because that thing can be addictive. ;))
