Agorapulse has a problem that has nothing to do with its product – almost nobody argues about it on Reddit.

We read every thread mentioning it across fourteen subreddits and found 49 comments in two years that name the tool and say something about it. Hootsuite draws that many in a single thread. What those 49 contain is more interesting than the number – including one rating that breaks the pattern every other tool in this category follows.

Key Takeaways

  1. Only 49 opinions in 24 months. Across 43 threads and 796 comments, 49 named Agorapulse and expressed a view. This is a quiet product, not a contested one.
  2. 5 of those 49 came from someone selling something. That is 10% – far cleaner than the 44% we measured in the flagship Hootsuite thread. Agorapulse gets discussed by users, not by rivals.
  3. Trustpilot does not collapse, and that is rare. Agorapulse holds 4.0 on Trustpilot against 4.5 on G2. Hootsuite and Sprout Social sit at 1.3 and 1.7 on the same site.
  4. Ease of use beats price as the theme. 14 of the 44 clean comments talk about the interface being easy, 12 raise cost – and on Hootsuite that order is reversed.
  5. The tool recommended alongside it is usually Statusbrew. Statusbrew appears in 16 of the 44 comments, more than Sprout or Hootsuite – but two accounts produce most of those mentions.

How we did this, and why the 24-month window matters

We searched fourteen subreddits where social media managers talk shop: r/SocialMediaManagers, r/socialmedia, r/SocialMediaMarketing, r/marketing, r/digital_marketing, r/b2bmarketing, r/agency, r/smallbusiness, r/nonprofit, r/PPC, r/Entrepreneur, r/AskMarketing, r/SocialMediaScheduling and r/agorapulse.

That returned 229 threads mentioning Agorapulse. 80 were posted since 19 August 2024, and 43 of those carried at least eight comments. We pulled every comment from all 43, which came to 796, of which 678 fall inside the 24-month window.

Of those 678, exactly 49 name Agorapulse and express an opinion. We removed 5 written by someone with a commercial interest. Everything below rests on the remaining 44.

The year split is 9 comments from 2024, 27 from 2025 and 8 from 2026. Agorapulse retired its free plan in July 2026 and made X a paid add-on in January 2026, so a 2022 comment about this tool describes a product that no longer exists.

Finding 1: the silence is the story

49 opinions in two years is a small number – and it is the first thing worth understanding about Agorapulse.

For scale, when we ran the same method on Hootsuite we found 148 comments worth counting, and a single Sprout Social thread produced 18 substantive replies on its own. G2 tells the same story from a different angle: Agorapulse carries 973 reviews against Hootsuite’s 7,414 and Sprout Social’s 6,872.

That is roughly one seventh the review volume. Agorapulse is not a small product, but it is a quiet one – and the practical consequence for a buyer is that there is less peer evidence to lean on. You will not find a thread where forty people argue about whether it is worth the money, because that thread does not exist.

It also means the few voices that are there carry more weight than they should.

Finding 2: 10% of the opinions came from someone selling something

We ran two filters. The first reads comment bodies for the usual disclosures. The second reads usernames, because that is where the disclosure often hides.

Five of the 49 comments failed one or the other, and by the standards of this category that is clean. When we counted the same way in the best Sprout versus Hootsuite thread on Reddit, 8 of 18 substantive comments came from vendors – 44%.

One of the five is worth naming. An account posting as metaplaton opens with “I curate TopSocialTools.com and track this market closely”, which is a disclosure, and a good one. Our first filter missed it because it looks for phrases like “I built” and “I work at”, not “I curate” – so we added it and re-ran.

So Agorapulse itself does not appear to be working these threads. What is happening instead is subtler and easier to miss.

Finding 3: two accounts shape what Agorapulse gets compared against

Statusbrew turns up in 16 of the 44 clean comments. That is more than Sprout Social (12), Hootsuite (10) or Buffer (8), which is not what you would predict from market share.

Ten of those 16 mentions come from one account. Sahni_4721 appears 28 times across the threads we pulled, and 17 of those comments name Statusbrew. A second account, Helpful-Clue-7510, contributes 14 comments in a similar pattern.

Reddit comment recommending Statusbrew alongside Agorapulse from a single-tool account
r/SocialMediaMarketing, February 2025. One of 17 comments from the same account naming the same tool.

Neither discloses a connection, and neither is breaking a Reddit rule – both give real, specific answers. But if you read three of these threads and came away thinking Statusbrew is the natural alternative to Agorapulse, that impression was built by a very small number of people.

The tell is simple enough to apply yourself: click the username and look at whether the account only ever appears in tool-recommendation threads, always landing on the same tool.

Finding 4: the Trustpilot score that breaks the pattern

Checked on 19 August 2026:

AgorapulseHootsuiteSprout Social
G2 rating4.5 / 54.3 / 54.4 / 5
G2 reviews9737,4146,872
Trustpilot rating4.0 / 51.3 / 51.7 / 5
Trustpilot reviews5755484
One-star share16%69%71%
Gap between the two sites0.53.02.7

Across this category the usual shape is a strong G2 score and a collapsed Trustpilot score, because G2 catches people mid-contract through review campaigns while Trustpilot catches them at the renewal, when something has gone wrong.

Agorapulse does not follow it – not even close. 65% of its Trustpilot reviews are five-star and only 16% are one-star, against roughly 70% one-star for both Hootsuite and Sprout Social. The gap between its two ratings is 0.5 points rather than three.

One caveat: 57 reviews is a thin sample, and thin samples move fast. But the direction is clear, and it lines up with what the Reddit comments say about support and about billing, which is very little – and on a renewal-driven site, no news is the good news.

Finding 5: people talk about the interface, not the invoice

Sorting the 44 clean comments by theme:

ThemeCommentsShare
Ease of use and interface1432%
Price and budget1227%
Reporting and analytics1125%
Publishing and scheduling1125%
Listening and monitoring614%
Inbox and moderation49%

Comments touch more than one theme, so the shares do not add to a hundred – the ranking is the point.

Reddit comment from a social media manager comparing Agorapulse with other social media tools
r/SocialMediaManagers, June 2026. One of the few long, first-hand comparisons in the whole set.

On Hootsuite, price was the single biggest theme and the interface came up mostly as a complaint about weight. Here it inverts: the most common thing said about Agorapulse is that it is easy to work in, and price runs second.

The inbox result is the surprising one. Agorapulse sells itself on the unified inbox, and only 4 of 44 comments mention inbox or moderation at all. People are buying it for the calendar and the reports – and discovering the inbox afterwards.

Finding 6: the price complaint is about the model, not the number

79 dollars a user a month is not an outlier in this category – what people react to is what that user buys.

Every Agorapulse plan includes exactly one user and ten social profiles, each extra user costs the same as the first, and the ten profiles are shared across everyone on the account. Upgrading from Standard to Advanced buys features, not headroom – the profile ceiling is identical on all three self-serve tiers.

r/SocialMediaMarketing, August 2025. The category framing that keeps recurring in these threads.

That is why the budget comments cluster around team size rather than the sticker. A three-person team on Advanced pays 5,364 dollars a year and still manages ten profiles between them.

The nonprofit route comes up more than once, with one commenter putting a nonprofit-discounted setup at roughly a thousand dollars a year. Agorapulse confirms nonprofit pricing exists and does not publish the rate, so that figure is one buyer’s experience – not a rate card.

r/socialmedia, September 2024. One buyer’s nonprofit figure, not a published rate.

We broke the whole model down separately in our guide to Agorapulse pricing, including the add-ons that carry no public price at all.

Finding 7: what none of these threads know yet

Two things changed in 2026 that had not reached the conversation by the time we read it.

  • The free plan ended on 6 July 2026. Existing free users were unsubscribed automatically and offered a paid plan or a free tier of Archie, Agorapulse’s AI content tool. Several older comments still recommend starting on the free plan, and Agorapulse’s own pricing FAQ still refers to it.
  • X (Twitter) became a paid add-on in January 2026. Connecting any X profile now requires either X Lite for publishing or X Plus for the inbox and reporting, and neither price is published.

Both are documented in Agorapulse’s own help centre – and neither appears in the Reddit threads or in the third-party pricing articles currently ranking for this query. If you are reading peer reviews to decide, this is the gap between what the crowd knows and what you would be buying.

So should you buy Agorapulse in 2026?

Based on 44 vendor-free comments and the published pricing, the split is fairly clean.

Agorapulse still makes sense if:

  • you want the shortest path from signup to a working calendar, which is what people actually praise
  • you run ten profiles or fewer and expect to stay there
  • the team is one or two people who each genuinely need their own login
  • you are a nonprofit and willing to ask for the discount

Look elsewhere if:

  • your profile count is growing, since no self-serve tier lifts the ten
  • every new hire needs a login, because each one costs a full seat
  • X is central to your reporting and an unpriced add-on is not something you can budget
  • comment and DM moderation is the job rather than a nice extra, which is the one area these threads barely credit it for

Agorapulse reviews on Reddit: the questions people keep asking

Is Agorapulse legit?

Yes. It holds 4.5 from 973 reviews on G2 and 4.0 from 57 on Trustpilot, and unlike most tools in this category its two ratings broadly agree. In two years of Reddit threads we found no pattern of billing or support complaints, which is the usual source of a collapsed Trustpilot score.

What do Reddit users say about Agorapulse?

Mostly that it is easy to work in. Ease of use is the most common theme at 14 of 44 comments, ahead of price at 12. The volume is low though: 49 opinions in 24 months across fourteen subreddits, which is roughly a seventh of what Hootsuite generates.

What is Agorapulse’s pricing?

79 USD per user per month on Standard with annual billing, 119 on Professional and 149 on Advanced, with a quoted Custom tier. Every plan includes one user and ten social profiles, and each extra user is charged at the same rate as the first.

What are some alternatives to Agorapulse?

In these threads the tools named alongside it are Statusbrew (16 mentions), Sprout Social (12), Hootsuite (10) and Buffer (8). Worth knowing that two accounts produce most of the Statusbrew recommendations. If the daily work is comment and DM moderation rather than scheduling, a tool built around that is the more relevant comparison, which is the case we set out in our guide to the Agorapulse alternative built for moderation.

What is the purpose of Agorapulse?

It collects comments, mentions and messages from connected profiles into one queue a team works through together, with publishing, monitoring and reporting alongside. Its own users describe it primarily as a calendar and reporting tool.

Does Agorapulse have a free plan?

No, not since 6 July 2026. Existing free users were unsubscribed automatically and offered either a paid plan or a free tier of Archie, the company’s AI content tool. A 30-day trial with no credit card remains.

Is Agorapulse better than Hootsuite?

On review scores, narrowly: 4.5 against 4.3 on G2, and a far healthier Trustpilot position. On Reddit the two are discussed differently rather than ranked, with Agorapulse praised for being easy and Hootsuite described as broad but heavy. Where they diverge sharply is profiles, since Agorapulse caps every self-serve plan at ten.
